Camp Ooch is a camp for children with or affected by cancer, offering day camp, in-city day camp and overnight camp throughout the summer, as well as weekend camps and family programming throughout the year. Camp Ooch is also the only overnight camp in Canada with on-site chemotherapy, IV treatment and blood transfusions.
Known as the social cure for cancer, Camp Ooch has expanded to year-round programs in Muskoka, SickKids, Ooch Downtown and other various centres across Canada.
Dr Jim Whitlock, Head of Hematology/Oncology at The Hospital for Sick Children, explains why this camp is important in the life of these sick children:
“The attitude they develop coming out of Camp is an important part of their therapy and their healing process really helps them to fight their cancer better.”

The Impact Report was full of great news - here are some of the highlights.
1. This year’s Summer Programs were a huge success, hosting 600 campers from across Ontario, exploring, singing, laughing and having fun together.
2. Camp Ooch initiated backpack chemotherapy to reduce the amount of time that campers spend in the Med Shed, as well as a mobile dispensary program so that kids could spend more time with friends and less time in the waiting room.
3. Camp Ooch opened the New Gatts’ Lodge, featuring a larger dining hall and a brand-new wood shop, introduced a family-based cooking program, expanded the family camping trips, extended the Parents and Tots program, and opened a permanent programming room at SickKids.
