Winter Safety Tips for Propane Customers
Help Keep Our Drivers Safe & Your Propane Delivery On Time
At Budget Propane, safety is always our top priority — for our customers, our communities, and our drivers. Winter in Central Ontario brings heavy snow, icy conditions, and unpredictable weather, which can make propane deliveries more challenging.
By preparing your property in advance, you’ll help ensure safe, reliable propane deliveries all season long.

Winter Propane Safety Tips
Keep Your Home Warm and Our Drivers Safe
Our propane delivery trucks require at least 13 feet of clear driveway width to safely access your property. During the winter months, it’s essential to keep snowbanks pushed back and trim any overhanging branches. Snow should be cleared along the entire driveway, and icy patches should be sanded or scraped to reduce slipping hazards. Make sure vehicles or other obstacles are removed so our drivers can maneuver safely. By maintaining a wide and accessible driveway, you help ensure timely deliveries even in tough winter conditions.
A clear path from your driveway to the propane tank is just as important as keeping the driveway open. Shovel and clear away snow, ice, or fallen branches that may block the way. Ensure gates and walkways are unlocked and easy to access, and avoid storing items that may create hazards along the path. If deliveries happen after dark, keeping the area well-lit is a helpful step that improves safety for both you and our drivers.
Snow and ice buildup on your propane tank can make it difficult for our drivers to service it properly. Regularly brushing off your tank ensures that valves, gauges, and regulators are visible and easy to access. This simple step helps prevent delays and ensures your propane delivery is quick, safe, and efficient.
Heavy snowfall can often hide propane tanks, making them difficult to locate. To make it easier for our drivers, place a flag, pole, or reflective marker near the tank and ensure it is tall enough to remain visible above snowbanks. This not only helps with faster deliveries but also prevents accidental damage from plows or shovels working nearby.

Extra Winter Safety Tips
Check your propane levels regularly
and place orders early! Don’t wait until your tank is low.
Install a Tank Monitor
for automatic level tracking and peace of mind.
Never use outdoor propane appliances indoors
this can cause dangerous carbon monoxide buildup.
Always clear snow and ice away from vents, chimneys, and flues
to prevent blockages and improve ventilation.
Stay Safe and Warm This Winter
By following these winter safety steps, you’ll help keep our drivers safe while ensuring your propane deliveries arrive on time. Preparing your property in advance is the best way to stay comfortable, safe, and worry-free throughout the cold season.
